The Federal Government has condemned the Houthi attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, which reportedly killed 12 people and injured more than 300 others.
In a statement issued on Sunday by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nigeria described the October 10 attack as a dangerous escalation that threatens civilian lives and regional security.
The statement, numbered MFA/PR/2026/267 and signed by the ministry’s spokesperson, Oluwafemi Adeniyi, said the attack violated Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty and undermined efforts to promote peace and stability in the Middle East.
Nigeria called on all parties to respect international law, exercise restraint and avoid further actions that could heighten tensions, endanger civilians or damage civilian infrastructure.
The government expressed solidarity with Saudi Arabia and extended its condolences to the families of those killed, while wishing the injured a speedy and full recovery.
It stressed the need to respect Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, alongside international obligations to protect civilians and critical infrastructure.
The ministry also commended Saudi Arabia’s emergency response and acknowledged its efforts to protect the kingdom and its residents.
Nigeria reaffirmed its support for diplomatic initiatives and constructive dialogue aimed at reducing tensions, protecting civilian lives and restoring regional stability.
