NNPC posts N535bn June profit, pays N6.29tn to Federation as oil output hits 1.72mbpd

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPC Ltd, has recorded a profit after tax of N535 billion in June 2026, while remitting N6.286 trillion in statutory payments to the Federation between January and June.

The performance underscores the company’s strong financial position despite operational challenges in the oil and gas sector.

According to its June 2026 Monthly Report Summary released on Friday, the national oil company generated N4.389 trillion in revenue during the month, while crude oil and condensate production averaged 1.72 million barrels per day, mbpd.

Natural gas production stood at 7,841 million standard cubic feet per day, mmscf/d.

The report noted that June production was affected by operational disruptions, facility integrity issues and subsurface challenges across several assets.

However, it said the impact was partly offset by production ramp-up following the completion of the Assa-Rumuekpe project and the 28-inch Trans Niger Pipeline, TNP, Turnaround Maintenance.

NNPC Ltd. said it remained focused on increasing production across its asset portfolio by improving facility reliability and availability, reducing unplanned downtime, optimising crude export operations and accelerating the development of new production opportunities to sustain upstream growth.

On strategic gas infrastructure, the company disclosed that the Obiafu-Obrikom-Oben, OB3, Gas Pipeline had reached 98 per cent completion, with final tie-in works across the River Niger ongoing ahead of the planned First Gas in August 2026.

Similarly, the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano, AKK, Gas Pipeline achieved 94 per cent completion, with sustained collaboration among stakeholders to fast-track construction and installation activities aimed at delivering gas to Abuja before the end of 2026.

The report also showed that upstream pipeline availability remained at 100 per cent, while petroleum product availability across NNPC Retail Limited stations stood at 53 per cent during the review period.

Beyond its commercial operations, NNPC Ltd., through the NNPC Foundation, continued to implement social investment programmes in healthcare, education and youth development.

The company said the Foundation commissioned and handed over a state-of-the-art 1.5 Tesla Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) machine to the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Dala, Kano, on June 4.

The facility, equipped with chillers, an uninterrupted power supply system and backup power, immediately benefited 40 patients who received free MRI scans during the commissioning.

NNPC Ltd. noted that all production, sales and financial figures contained in the report are provisional and remain subject to reconciliation with relevant stakeholders.
