Tinubu Congratulates Ex-NERC Chair Muhammed Alimi AbdulRazaq on 70th Birthday

President Bola Tinubu has congratulated renowned legal practitioner and elder statesman, Dr. Muhammed Alimi AbdulRazaq, the Mutawalin of Ilorin, on his 70th birthday, describing him as a distinguished public servant whose contributions to Nigeria’s legal, education and corporate sectors have left a lasting legacy.

The President’s message was contained in a statement issued on Friday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

Tinubu praised AbdulRazaq’s career in public service, noting that as the pioneer Chairman of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), he played a pivotal role in laying the foundation for the regulation of Nigeria’s electricity industry and advancing reforms that continue to shape the nation’s power sector.

The President also commended the legal luminary’s commitment to education through the establishment of Bridge House College in Ikoyi, Lagos, describing the institution as one that has continued to nurture young Nigerians for academic excellence, leadership and responsible citizenship.

He further acknowledged AbdulRazaq’s contributions to corporate governance as a Non-Executive Director of First Bank Holdings Plc, saying his experience and sound judgment have continued to strengthen one of the country’s leading financial institutions.

Congratulating the Mutawalin of Ilorin on the milestone, Tinubu said, “As you celebrate this significant milestone, I salute your distinguished record of service to our nation, your steadfast commitment to justice, education, and institutional excellence, as well as your enduring legacy of leadership. Your contributions to Nigeria’s development remain worthy of commendation.”
