Afrobeats superstar Davido has claimed that he stands alone as the only billionaire’s child in the entertainment industry who has built massive wealth and international recognition through his own career.
The singer made the statement during a recent interview with The Vibe, where he spoke about his journey, success, and the influence of his background on his career.
While discussing his achievements, Davido challenged listeners to name another billionaire’s child anywhere in the world who has been able to create a successful entertainment career and accumulate significant wealth on his own.
According to him, no one else fits that description besides him.
“Not to brag, but which other billionaire’s child do you know in the world? I am not talking about Africa that has made a name for himself and also made a lot of money? You can’t make one apart from me.”
The singer, however, explained that growing up around wealth has made luxury less exciting for him. Davido revealed that he has been exposed to money from a very young age, which is why he prefers a simple lifestyle despite his fame and success.
He noted that he enjoys living like an ordinary person and sometimes wishes he could carry out everyday activities without the limitations that come with being a global celebrity.
“I’ve been seeing money since I was a baby, so all these things don’t really excite me. I like to live like a regular person.”
The father of six also spoke about wanting the freedom to do normal things, such as driving a Toyota to public places without attracting attention. He credited his family for helping him stay grounded through difficult moments, including personal losses and controversies.
Davido, who is the son of billionaire businessman Adedeji Adeleke, has remained one of Africa’s biggest music exports, with a career spanning international collaborations, global tours, and numerous awards.
