Governor Francis Nwifuru has lifted the suspension placed on several members of the Ebonyi State Executive Council and other government officials.
The governor announced the decision on Sunday during a church service held in Abakaliki to mark the 2026 Father’s Day celebration.
Among those previously suspended were the Commissioner for Works, Stanley Mbam, and the Commissioner in the Ministry of Infrastructure Concession for Development, Ogbonnaya Abara. Several other senior officials across ministries, departments, and agencies were also affected.
The suspensions, which were imposed in March 2026, followed allegations of dereliction of duty, particularly amid concerns over project execution and uncompleted road works.
Explaining his decision, Nwifuru said the recall was a gesture of appreciation for the loyalty and support shown by workers in the state.
“I want to thank workers for their unwavering support. In recognition of this, I have decided to recall all suspended officials, except those in the Ministry of Lands and Survey, whose cases are still under investigation,” he stated.
The governor urged the reinstated officials to recommit themselves to their responsibilities and align with the administration’s “People’s Charter of Needs” agenda.
He also warned political appointees against declaring interest in elective positions without formally resigning from their roles, describing such actions as disrespectful to the office of the governor.
Nwifuru further called on public servants to maintain discipline, focus on service delivery, and avoid conduct that could distract the government from its objectives.
During the event, he highlighted the importance of fathers as pillars of strength and stability in both families and society.
In his sermon, the officiating priest, Rev. Fr. James Nwaofoke, commended the governor for his leadership and efforts in maintaining peace in the state, while offering prayers for continued success of the administration.
