Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo has described former governor Peter Obi as his friend and brother, saying their relationship remains cordial despite disagreements over political ideology and strategy.
“Peter Obi is my friend and brother. Our families are close; we only disagree on political ideology and strategies,” Soludo said.
His comments have sparked reactions on X, with some users accusing the governor of playing politics of hate, while others questioned his claim that the two families are close.
The remarks come weeks after Obi said he and his wife were godparents to Soludo’s children while explaining that there was no personal quarrel between them.
However, the Anambra State First Lady’s media aide, Daniel Ezeigwe, later clarified that Obi was not the godfather of any of Soludo’s children. He explained that Nonye Soludo was the confirmation godmother to one of Obi’s daughters, while Obi’s wife, Margaret, was the baptismal godmother to one of Soludo’s daughters.
The disagreement has played out against the backdrop of political tensions between the two men, particularly over their views on Anambra State’s finances and the state’s political future.
