A Canada-based Nigerian doctor, identified as doctor Zo, has raised concerns over the negative perception of Nigerians in foreign countries, blaming certain groups of Nigerians for contributing to the country’s damaged reputation abroad.
According to the doctor, Nigerians living overseas have, in some cases, engaged in activities that have negatively affected how the country and its citizens are viewed internationally.
Zo identified politicians as one of the major groups he believes have contributed to Nigeria’s poor image abroad. He also pointed to Nigerians involved in online scams and those engaged in drug trafficking as other groups responsible for tarnishing the country’s reputation.
“In abroad, a lot Nigerians have messed up our country image in abroad, the first group is our politicians and the second group are Nigerians into scamming, the next group is drug peddlers that’s why our passport is going down,” he said.
The doctor’s remarks have sparked discussion about Nigeria’s international reputation and the actions of its citizens living outside the country.
His comments also highlight the broader concerns surrounding the impact of crime, corruption and other negative activities on how Nigerians are perceived globally.
