Nigerian content creator Genevieve has criticised Nigerians who intend to vote for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu again in 2027, arguing that ethnic loyalty should not take precedence over competence and good governance.
In a statement expressing her frustration over the country’s economic situation, Genevieve questioned why some citizens would continue to support the president simply because he is Yoruba and belongs to their ethnic group.
According to her, Nigerians should prioritise leadership performance and the country’s overall well-being rather than ethnic affiliations when making political decisions.
“I Can’t Believe That In 2026, With All The Suffering And Hardship In Nigeria, There Are Still People Who Want To Vote For Tinubu Again, Not Because He Is Competent Or Knows What He Is Doing, But Simply Because He Is Yoruba And Their Brother. When You Want To Buy Fuel, Do You Tell Them To Sell It To You At a Cheaper Price Because You’re Yoruba And Tinubu Is Your Brother?” she said.
Her remarks highlight the ongoing debate over ethnic loyalty in Nigerian politics, particularly as political discussions ahead of the 2027 general elections continue to gain momentum.
