Sweden rolled to a commanding 5-1 win over Tunisia on Sunday night in Monterrey Stadium in Mexico to open the World Cup.
Just one game into the World Cup, and Sweden is now in full control of Group F as two superb Yasin Ayari long-rangers sandwiched goals from Alexander Isak, Viktor Gyokeres and Mattias Svanberg sealed the deal for Graham Potters’s men.
It was a first-game statement for Graham Potter’s side, and the strikers more than fired for Sweden.
The result marked the first time since the 1938 tournament that Sweden managed five goals in a World Cup match.
Sweden will take on the Netherlands next on Saturday while Tunisia, now in desperate need of a win, will square off with Japan on Saturday in a repeat of a group stage fixture from the 2002 World Cup.
