President Bola Tinubu has congratulated the Accountant-General of the Federation, Dr. Shamseldeen Babatunde Ogunjimi, on his election as Chairman of the African Association of Accountant-Generals (AAAG).

In a statement issued on Friday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu described Ogunjimi’s election as “a source of immense pride for Nigeria and a testament to the country’s sustained efforts at promoting transparency, accountability, and excellence in public finance administration.”

Ogunjimi emerged chairman after defeating candidates from Tanzania and The Gambia during the African Association of Accountant-Generals’ Annual General Meeting held recently in the Kingdom of Eswatini.

President Tinubu expressed confidence that Ogunjimi’s leadership would “deepen collaboration among member states, foster the exchange of best practices, strengthen institutional capacity, and advance reforms that will enhance prudent financial management across Africa.”
