Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has said that although President Bola Tinubu has made progress at the macroeconomic level, many Nigerians are still facing difficulties at the grassroots level.
The former Abia State governor made the remarks while calling for a more streamlined campaign train for the President, arguing that Tinubu should be allowed to attend campaign rallies without being surrounded by an unnecessarily large number of people.
According to Kalu, the country continues to face challenges at the microeconomic level, particularly in the agricultural sector, where insecurity has made it difficult for some farmers to access their farmlands.
Speaking on the state of the economy and the need to give the current administration more time, the senator said:
“The President should be allowed to attend campaign rallies without an unnecessarily large number of people following him in the campaign train. To me, Tinubu has done well in the macroeconomy, but we are still fighting at the microeconomic level because farmers can’t go to their farms. Nigerians should give us another four years.”
Kalu’s comments highlight the distinction between broad economic indicators and the everyday financial realities of ordinary Nigerians.
While macroeconomic policies focus on issues such as inflation, economic growth and overall stability, microeconomic concerns affect individuals, households and businesses directly.
His remarks also draw attention to insecurity in farming communities, which remains a concern for agricultural production and food supply.
