United States President Donald Trump has announced what he described as a historic agreement for the complete disarmament of Hamas and all other armed groups in the Gaza Strip, saying the deal marks a significant step toward achieving lasting peace and security in the region.
Trump disclosed the development in a statement on Friday, saying the agreement would pave the way for a new Palestinian administration to govern Gaza while working with the Board of Peace to rebuild the territory and maintain stability.
According to the U.S. president, the arrangement is intended to ensure that Israel’s security is strengthened by preventing Gaza from being used as a launch pad for future attacks.
Trump said, “Today, the Board of Peace reached a HISTORIC agreement for the COMPLETE DISARMAMENT of Hamas and all other armed groups in Gaza. This is a monumental step toward lasting PEACE and SECURITY.”

He added that “This agreement is a critical step towards Gaza finally being governed by a new Palestinian government that will work closely with the Board of Peace to help the Palestinian people.”
The president said the agreement forms part of the implementation of what he called the “Trump 20-Point Plan” and would be executed in carefully coordinated phases.
He explained that Israeli troops would withdraw from Gaza as the disarmament process progresses, while an International Stabilization Force, alongside a newly established Palestinian police force, would assume responsibility for maintaining security across the territory.
Trump noted that the agreement follows months of conflict that left Gaza devastated and created a severe humanitarian crisis.
Reflecting on the past year, he said, “One year ago there was a violent raging war, humanitarian crisis and hostages kept in brutal captivity. We have made historic progress and there is still much work to do.”
The U.S. president commended Egypt, Qatar and Türkiye for their mediation efforts, while also praising his negotiating team for securing what he described as a breakthrough.
He stressed that “The threat that emerged from Gaza on October 7 will NOT be allowed to rebuild!”
Trump further stated that the agreement would ensure that “Gaza will finally be in the hands of a new Palestinian government that serves its PEOPLE.”
Trump concluded saying, “CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL ON THIS AMAZING DEVELOPMENT, THAT EVERYBODY SAID COULD NEVER BE ACHIEVED!”
