Chief Dan Orbih, a close political ally of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and former South-South National Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has died.
Orbih died on Monday, August 31, 2026, according to a statement released by his family.
The statement, signed by Francis Udukhomoi Orbih on behalf of the family, described his death as a painful loss.
“With profound sadness and a heavy heart, but in total submission to the will of Almighty God, the family of Chief M.C.K. Orbih announces the passing of our beloved brother, husband, father and uncle, Chief Daniel Osi Orbih, who passed away on Monday, 31 August 2026.”
Orbih was a major political figure in the PDP, particularly in the South-South region. He was also influential in Edo State politics and was known as one of Wike’s loyal supporters during the internal crisis that affected the PDP.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs Florence Orbih; his daughters, Winifred Anwosiobor Orbih and Dr Mildred Omonemi Orbih; his siblings; and other members of the family.
The family asked relatives, friends and supporters to pray for them as they mourn his death.
“At this difficult time, we ask family members, friends and well-wishers to remember the entire family in their prayers as we mourn this painful loss. Further details will be announced in due course.”
The family said details of his funeral arrangements would be made public soon.
