An Edo man has sparked reactions online after verbally attacking the Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II, over his recent comments on President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid.
The criticism followed the monarch’s meeting with the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council at the Benin Palace in Edo State.
During the visit on September 15, 2026, the Oba urged Nigerians to support continuity in governance and said there was no need to seek change simply for its own sake. He also said Tinubu should be allowed to complete what he described as his “good work.”
However, the monarch also maintained that the Benin throne is non-partisan and said his position should not be interpreted as belonging to any political party.
Reacting to the development in a viral video, an Edo man attacked the monarch over his position.
He said:
“You are very useless, shameless and your immune system will fail you”
The remarks have generated further reactions on X, with some users defending the monarch and others criticising his comments on the 2027 election.
