Pastor Korede Komaiya has urged Christians to make their thanksgiving offerings reflect their financial status, stressing that believers should not claim to be grateful to God while refusing to give from their substance.
Speaking to his congregation, the pastor described giving as a biblical ordinance and said thanksgiving should not be done empty-handed.
“It’s important for you to note this reality. Note this reality and note it very well. God is the King of the whole earth,” he said.
Komaiya further stated that gratitude to God should involve a person’s material possessions.
“You can’t thank God empty-handed. It’s a biblical ordinance. You cannot thank God without your substance,” he said.
He also argued that people should not simply decide to give whatever amount they want during thanksgiving, saying the offering should correspond with their financial standing.
Using an example, he said someone who owns two cars, a house, has a good job and earns millions should not give the same amount as someone who is a tenant.
“Everybody note this. If you are grateful, your thanksgiving offering should reflect your status,” he added.
Komaiya also revealed that he had started giving his thanksgiving offering in millions, reflecting on how far he had come.
“I started giving my thanksgiving offering in millions since yesterday,” he said.
