Tragedy As Twin Sisters D!e Two Days Apart After Sickle Cell Complications

A Nigerian family has been thrown into mourning after twin sisters, a medical doctor and a pharmacist, reportedly d!ed two days apart in Yobe State.

The sisters were identified as Dr Hadiyah Usman Abdullahi and Pharm Aidah Usman Abdullahi, daughters of Professor Hadiza Abdullahi Usman, the Medical Director of Federal Medical Centre, Nguru.

Hadiyah reportedly d!ed on Friday, October 2, 2026, after being admitted to FMC Nguru for about a week following a sickle cell crisis.

Her twin sister, Aidah, was also receiving treatment at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital around the same period but was reportedly discharged after recovering.

According to reports, Aidah later attended Hadiyah’s burial and visited her grave. She reportedly fainted after the visit and was rushed to hospital, where she d!ed on Sunday, October 4.

The deaths have left their family, friends and colleagues devastated, with many mourning the loss of the two healthcare professionals within such a short period.
