The Zamfara State Government has approved a 95 per cent increase in the salaries of health workers across the state, with the new pay structure taking effect from September 7, 2026.
The revised remuneration is aligned with the Federal Government’s approved health-sector salary structures, particularly the Consolidated Health Salary Structure (CONHESS).
The Head of Civil Service, Shehu Baraya, announced the adjustment in a circular dated September 10, 2026, with reference number HS/Z/001/54/VOL.II.
The circular, addressed to senior government officials, including the Secretary to the State Government, commissioners, special advisers, permanent secretaries and heads of ministries, departments, agencies, boards and commissions, said the review was part of efforts to improve the state’s health sector.
According to the government, the salary adjustment is intended to strengthen the health workforce, improve staff welfare and create better working conditions for health personnel.
It said improved remuneration was expected to boost workers’ morale and motivation while enhancing productivity and efficiency in healthcare delivery.
The government, however, called on health workers to reciprocate the adjustment with greater commitment, professionalism and dedication to their duties.
It directed personnel to observe official working hours, maintain discipline and comply with public service rules, regulations and established ethical standards.
“The government appreciates the continued commitment and sacrifices of Health Workers and looks forward to their renewed dedication towards building a stronger, more responsive and efficient health sector in Zamfara State,” the circular stated.
The government also directed heads of ministries, departments and agencies to communicate the new salary structure to affected workers and ensure that the objectives of the review were fully implemented.
The circular contains revised CONHESS basic salary scales covering different grades and steps, alongside hazard allowances for clinical and non-clinical health workers.
Under the new hazard allowance schedule, clinical health workers on salary grades 1 to 5 are entitled to N15,200, while their non-clinical counterparts are listed at N14,250.
For grades 6 to 12, the allowance stands at N30,400 for clinical workers and N28,500 for non-clinical workers.
Workers on grades 13 to 15 are listed to receive N32,300 as clinical health workers and N30,400 as non-clinical health workers.
