Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has secured the presidential nomination and expression of interest forms of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2027 general election at a cost of N90 million.
The forms were collected on Friday at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja by a delegation of political stakeholders led by former Edo State Governor, John Odigie-Oyegun.
The documents were officially handed over to Amaechi’s representatives by the ADC Deputy National Organising Secretary, Atiku Mohammed.
With the development, Amaechi has emerged as the second aspirant to officially join the ADC presidential race after Mohammed Hayatu-Deen earlier purchased the party’s nomination forms.
THE PRESS NIGERIA Reports that the ADC has recently faced internal leadership disputes and several court cases, creating uncertainty within the party.
The crisis reportedly contributed to the exit of notable politicians, including Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, who defected to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
However, ADC National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, maintained that the defections were part of a pre-planned political move and not connected to the party’s internal challenges.
Despite the lingering disputes and court cases, ADC National Chairman, David Mark, has assured members that the party remains committed to participating in the 2027 general elections.
