The annual Quomodo Inter-School Swimming Competition is set to hold today (Saturday) at the swimming section of Ikoyi Club 1938 in Lagos.
The event will feature young swimmers competing in major swimming styles, including freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke, butterfly, and the individual medley. Distances have been arranged according to different age brackets to ensure fair competition across categories.
This year’s edition marks the first leg of the league-format developmental talent hunt, designed to nurture and showcase emerging swimming talents. The competition is structured into three divisions—primary, junior secondary, and senior secondary levels—giving participants from various age groups the opportunity to compete on a shared platform.
Organisers say the format is aimed at broadening participation and strengthening grassroots swimming development in the country.
The Chairman of the Swimming Section of Ikoyi Club 1938, Akinbulejo Onabolu, said preparations have been completed for a smooth and competitive event.
“We are always happy to receive youngsters at Ikoyi Club and we believe the forthcoming event will reflect the commitment of the club to develop talents for the country,” he said.
“Every aspect of the programme has been attended to and we expect a very good competition in a very conducive atmosphere at the swimming section. It will be fun-filled,” Onabolu added.
