Colombian music star Shakira and Nigerian Grammy-winning Afrobeat artist Burna Boy are set to unveil the official song for the 2026 FIFA World Cup titled “Dai Dai” on May 14, 2026.
The song has been selected by FIFA as the tournament’s official anthem for the global football competition, which will be jointly hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the United States from June 11 to July 19, 2026.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Shakira previewed the collaboration in a short video shared on her X account, showing her performing alongside Burna Boy.
In the clip, Shakira is seen singing a verse in English while on the pitch of Brazil’s iconic Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro, holding the Trionda—official match ball of the tournament. Burna Boy appears alongside her, blending vocals in a harmonised performance.
Dancers dressed in jerseys representing various participating nations also feature in the video, adding to the World Cup atmosphere.
The teaser, which was also posted by the FIFA World Cup account, ends with fireworks over the stadium and the message: “We’re ready!”
Shakira is no stranger to World Cup anthems, having delivered the global hit “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)” for the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, a track widely regarded as one of the most successful tournament songs in history.
The 2026 World Cup kicks off on June 11, with the opening match scheduled between Mexico and South Africa at the Azteca Stadium in Mexico City.
