2027: Hamzat Meets Tinubu’s Daughter, Woos Lagos Traders

The Lagos State Deputy Governor and All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, has met with market leaders across the state, including Folasade Tinubu-Ojo, daughter of President Bola Tinubu, as he seeks to engage traders ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

Hamzat met with the Iyaloja and Babaloja representatives across Lagos, led by Tinubu-Ojo, the Iyaloja General of Nigeria.

In a statement posted on X, the deputy governor said the meeting provided an opportunity to listen to the concerns of market leaders and discuss ways to improve the business environment for traders.

He described markets as central to Lagos’ economy, stressing that traders deserved policies that would support their businesses, protect their livelihoods and create more growth opportunities.

Hamzat said his Lagos PROMISE agenda recognised the importance of market businesses, particularly small enterprises and women-led businesses, to the state’s economic development.

He pledged to make access to finance easier, simplify business permit processes and create more opportunities for small businesses to grow.

According to him, the measures would help protect livelihoods and ensure that more residents benefit from Lagos’ economic growth.

“I valued the opportunity to hear their concerns and discuss how we can create better conditions for traders and market businesses to succeed.

“My Lagos PROMISE recognises the importance of these businesses. I am committed to making access to finance easier, simplifying permits and creating more opportunities for small businesses, particularly women-led enterprises. These are steps towards protecting livelihoods and ensuring that more people can benefit from Lagos’ economic growth,” Hamzat said.
