Respected groups, the Southern Youths Foundation of Nigeria, the Orashi National Congress (ONC), and the Sustainable Development & Peace Initiatives of Indigenous Niger Delta Contractors, have described Dr. Dennis Brutu Otuaro as a man of proven integrity, dignity and honour.
In a statement signed by Amb. Emeni Ibe, JP, AP, the groups said they rose with one united voice to commend and celebrate the Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), Dr. Dennis Brutu Otuaro.
“He is not just an Administrator. He is a proud son of the Niger Delta struggle — a man who carries the pain, the history, the sacrifices, and the hopes of our people with dignity and honour,” the statement read.
*He Has Made The Ijaw Nation Stand Tall And Proud*
The groups said for too long, the people were mocked, the programme was turned into a cash cow for a few greedy cabals, and youths were used and abandoned. Today, under Dr. Otuaro, they said the Niger Delta stands tall again — with pride, with honour, and with undeniable results.
“His vision is clear. His uprightness is unquestionable. His integrity is unbreakable. His dignity is intact,” they said.
They noted that Dr. Otuaro refused to succumb to fraudsters, blackmailers and their sponsors. He also refused to abandon the Federal Government’s BVN policy because a few persons wanted to continue stealing ghost names and diverting stipends meant for genuine ex-agitators.
As PAP rightly declared: “We will not succumb to fraudsters.”
And he has kept his word — firmly, fearlessly and faithfully, the groups added.
*Thank You For Rekindling The Hopes Of Our Youths, Widows And Orphans*
The groups described this as the heart of their commendation.
“Many of our brothers did not return from the struggle. Many of our fathers paid the supreme price. Many widows were left without husbands. Many orphans were left without fathers. For years, their sacrifices were forgotten. Their families were abandoned. Their hopes were buried,” they said.
“Dr. Otuaro, thank you for remembering them. Thank you for rekindling their hopes. Thank you for proving that their loved ones did not die in vain.”
Through his leadership, they said, a widow can now smile again, an orphan can now go to school, and a youth who had lost hope can now dream of becoming a pilot, a maritime captain, a graduate, a professional.
“You have given dignity back to the families of the fallen. You have given life back to the struggle,” the statement said.
*His Outstanding Leadership In Facts, Not Noise*
The groups listed his achievements to include:
– Approximately 13,300 onshore scholarships and over 500 offshore scholarships awarded to Niger Delta youths
– Laptops distributed to scholarship beneficiaries to strengthen digital learning
– 4 cadet pilots and 20 aviation trainees employed after training, 40 cadets on on-the-job training, 98 maritime cadets professionally certified
– Over 360 stakeholders trained in Alternative Dispute Resolution and Mediation
– Prompt payment of monthly stipends to genuine ex-agitators and eligible beneficiaries
– Sanitised the PAP Office, closed loopholes, blocked ghost names, and stopped the diversion of public funds
“This is what leadership looks like. This is what accountability looks like. This is what a son of the struggle does when given power — he uses it for his people, not for himself,” they said.
*The Good People Of The Niger Delta Are Solidly Behind Him*
The groups said they stand behind him because he has not betrayed the struggle, has not sold their dignity for contracts and kickbacks, and has chosen education over fraud, empowerment over theft, and peace over blackmail.
“To the blackmailers and their sponsors, we say this: Your propaganda has failed. Your campaign of calumny has failed. You cannot intimidate a man of integrity. You cannot blackmail a man who has nothing to hide,” they said.
They added that Dr. Otuaro is protected by his record, by his conscience, and by the prayers of the Niger Delta people — especially the prayers of widows and orphans whose hopes he has restored.
The groups called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, to continue to stand with the worthy son of the Niger Delta, saying he is delivering the Renewed Hope Agenda with honesty, transparency and results.
“Dr. Dennis Brutu Otuaro, we are proud of you. The Ijaw Nation is proud of you. The Niger Delta is proud of you.
“Continue to lead with vision. Continue to lead with integrity. Continue to lead with dignity.
“History will remember you as the Administrator who cleaned up PAP, restored its honour, and rekindled the hope of a generation,” the statement concluded.
