Former Super Eagles forward and ex-West Bromwich Albion player Peter Osaze Odemwingie has opened up about his Christian faith, revealing that he gave his life to Jesus at Christ Embassy in Benin City.
The former Nigerian international shared the testimony while recalling his experience during the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), where he travelled with the Super Eagles.
According to Odemwingie, he and former Super Eagles goalkeeper Austin Ejide were roommates during the tournament and regularly read the Bible together.
He said:
“I gave my life to Jesus in Christ Embassy, Benin City…We went to Egypt to the AFCON (with Nigeria). Me and Austin Ejide were roommates, we used to read the Bible…”
His revelation has drawn reactions from social media users, with some expressing excitement over his faith journey.
One commenter said the footballer looked older and tired, while another shared a similar personal testimony, saying he accepted Jesus during Pastor Chris Oyakhilome’s television ministry in 2012.
