PDP Moves To Resolve Cases Of Candidates Omitted By INEC

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says it is engaging the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over the omission of some of its candidates from the commission’s final list of candidates released on Saturday.

Prominent among the affected candidates are the party’s governorship candidates in Gombe and Ogun States, Isa Pantami and Ladi Adebutu respectively.

The party, in a statement issued on Sunday by its National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Jungudo Mohammed, assured all the candidates affected by the omission and the party’s supporters that it was working towards resolving the issue amicably and in accordance with the law.

The PDP said it was treating the development with the seriousness it deserved, adding that it remained committed to ensuring that all legitimate concerns surrounding the omissions were addressed.

“The party is already engaging with INEC to address the issues responsible for the omissions, with a view to securing an amicable resolution in accordance with the law and established electoral guidelines,” the statement said.

The opposition party also promised to keep affected candidates and supporters informed of further developments as discussions with the electoral commission progress.

It, however, urged those affected to remain calm and exercise patience, warning against actions or statements that could undermine the ongoing engagements with INEC.

The development comes amid concerns over the status of candidates whose names were missing from the commission’s final list ahead of the 2027 general elections.
