An aide to Anambra State First Lady, Nonye Soludo, has disputed Peter Obi’s claim that he and his wife are godparents to Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s children.
The development comes a day after Obi said that there was no personal disagreement between him and Soludo despite their ongoing public exchanges over Anambra State’s finances.
Speaking at the 2026 All Nigeria Editors’ Conference in Enugu on Friday, Obi said his relationship with Soludo remained cordial and disclosed that he and his wife had a personal relationship with the governor’s family.
“I and my wife are godparents to Soludo’s children. We are that close. We are not fighting. If they say anything, I will answer them.”
Obi also said that he would still embrace Soludo whenever they met, insisting that political disagreements should not be mistaken for a personal feud.
However, an aide to First Lady Nonye Soludo has now challenged the claim that Obi is a godparent to the governor’s children.
The aide’s response has added another dimension to the ongoing public exchanges involving Obi and the Soludos, which have largely centred on the financial record of Obi’s administration in Anambra.
The disputed godparent claim has also generated reactions online, with some users questioning the circumstances surrounding the conflicting accounts.
