One of the most glaring weaknesses undermining Peter Obi’s political credibility is not opposition attacks or media bias it is his apparent inability to build and rely on a competent, strategic team capable of managing his public image and communication.
Time and again, Obi has demonstrated a troubling tendency to speak impulsively, often without fully considering the implications, accuracy, or long-term consequences of his statements. In an era where leadership demands precision, discipline, and strategic messaging, such repeated lapses raise serious concerns about his readiness for higher responsibility.
Leadership is not a platform for casual remarks, inconsistent narratives, or questionable statistics. It requires depth, clarity, and a firm grasp of facts. Yet, Obi’s public engagements frequently fall short of these expectations, leaving room for doubt and criticism that could have easily been avoided with proper guidance.
Even more concerning is the kind of support system that appears to surround him. Rather than a team of seasoned advisers who can offer honest, constructive criticism and help refine his communication, Obi seems backed by a network of overly aggressive loyalists. These defenders often resort to insults, harassment, and online intimidation whenever legitimate concerns are raised about his statements or inconsistencies—further damaging his public image.
A strong and experienced media and strategy team could have mitigated many of these recurring issues—preparing him adequately for interviews, aligning his messaging, and shielding him from avoidable controversies. Instead, what Nigerians continue to witness are self-inflicted public relations crises that weaken his standing.
Until Peter Obi recognizes the urgent need for discipline, embraces honest counsel, and replaces blind loyalty with strategic competence, his political journey may remain defined not by his ambitions, but by avoidable missteps and unforced errors.
