The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested three men accused of defiling girls aged nine, 10 and 11 in separate incidents across the state.
The alleged offences, reported between October 12 and 13, 2026, involved a 47-year-old man accused of luring an 11-year-old girl with N500, a 35-year-old man allegedly accused of repeatedly abusing a nine-year-old girl, and a 22-year-old man accused of defiling a 10-year-old girl.
The police said the cases were being investigated as part of the command’s efforts to tackle sexual and gender-based violence and ensure justice for victims.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Police Public Relations Officer, Nafiu Habib, said the first incident was reported at the Tilden Fulani Police Division in Toro Local Government Area on October 12.
According to the police, the victim’s mother reported that her 11-year-old daughter had allegedly been lured by Auwal Ibrahim, 47, of Unguwar Sarkin Hausawa, with N500 into a narrow passage, where he allegedly sexually abused her.
The child was subsequently taken to the General Hospital in Toro for medical attention.
The police said the suspect initially denied the allegation, adding that detectives had visited the scene and were making further efforts to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
In a separate case, a mother from Gwallameji, Bauchi, reported at the E-Division on October 13 that her nine-year-old daughter had allegedly been repeatedly lured into the room of a 35-year-old man, identified as Sabitu Muhammed, who allegedly sexually abused her on several occasions.
The police said Muhammed had been arrested and the child taken to the Police Clinic in Bauchi for medical examination and support.
The case has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.
The third incident was reported at the B-Division in the GRA area of Bauchi on October 13.
The police said the victim’s 40-year-old mother reported that her 10-year-old daughter had been sent to buy sugar that evening but was allegedly intercepted on her way home by Anas Adam, 22, who lives in the same neighbourhood.
Adam allegedly took the girl to his house and sexually abused her, according to the police.
Detectives reportedly visited the scene, while the child was taken to the Police Clinic for medical examination. The suspect was also arrested.
The Commissioner of Police in Bauchi State, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, condemned the alleged acts, describing them as inhumane and an assault on the dignity and safety of children.
He assured the victims and their families that the command would conduct thorough investigations and pursue prosecution where the allegations are established.
The commissioner also urged parents, guardians and community leaders to remain vigilant, monitor children’s movements and promptly report suspected cases of abuse to the police.
The police urged members of the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies in efforts to protect children and ensure that alleged perpetrators are brought to justice.
