Nigerian social commentator Daniel Regha has questioned Apostle Arome Osayi’s account of an alleged encounter with Jesus at a beach in Tanzania.
Osayi recently shared a testimony about an experience he claimed to have had at a Tanzanian beach, where he said Jesus appeared to him and instructed him to send ₦5 million to a pastor in exchange for supernatural powers to raise the dead and reverse autism.
The account has sparked reactions on social media, with Regha challenging the preacher’s claims and comparing the story with a passage from the Bible.
Reacting to the development, Regha referenced Acts 8:20, which tells the story of Simon the sorcerer attempting to obtain spiritual power from the apostles through money.
“Pastor Arome Osayi seems to be making content, because what he said about the Tanzania beach is ridiculous. Jesus asked you to send ₦5m to receive the powers? People who defend him know nothing about the Bible, and it’s sad how gullible Nigerians can be,” he tweeted.
Regha further questioned Osayi’s description of the encounter, particularly the part where the preacher reportedly reflected on the supernatural abilities he wanted before recalling his request.
According to the social commentator, the details of the encounter did not align with his understanding of the biblical account.
“What he said contradicts what the Bible says in Acts 8 vs 20 when someone wanted to buy powers from the apostles to perform miracles. And if you notice in his story, he was thinking about the powers he wanted to ask the man he met at the beach, because that obviously isn’t Jesus,” he added.
Regha’s remarks have further fueled the online conversation surrounding Osayi’s account, with social media users continuing to react to the preacher’s claim about the alleged supernatural encounter.
