“Where Is The Giant Of Africa?”- Woman Laments Poor Roads, Lack Of Electricity After Oluku Market Fire

A woman has expressed frustration over the state of basic amenities in Nigeria following a heavy fire outbreak at Oluku Market in Benin City, Edo State, days ago.

Reacting to the incident, she questioned Nigeria’s reputation as the Giant of Africa, arguing that many citizens continue to struggle with poor roads, inadequate electricity and other essential infrastructure.

According to her, Nigerians are simply asking for basic amenities that would improve their daily lives, yet many communities still lack access to these necessities.

“All we citizens are asking for is basic amenities. We don’t even have good roads or electricity, yet they claim Nigeria is the Giant of Africa. Where exactly is the giant? Is it only in making citizens suffer?” she said.

Her remarks have drawn attention to concerns over infrastructure and the need for improved public services, particularly as residents and traders deal with the aftermath of the fire incident at the market.
