The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has announced a planned two-day power interruption affecting parts of the Federal Capital Territory, including Lugbe, Airport Road, and Gaduwa.
In a statement shared via its verified X account on Friday, the utility company explained that the outage is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.
According to AEDC, the interruption was requested by the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) to allow for the relocation of critical electricity infrastructure. The affected installations include the 33kV feeders H21 and H23, as well as the 11kV feeder H1A in the Gaduwa district of Abuja.
The company added that the exercise is necessary to support ongoing road construction projects considered to be in the public interest.
During the period, electricity supply will be temporarily disrupted across the affected areas. AEDC assured residents that power will be restored immediately after the completion of the work.
“We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused and appreciate your understanding,” the company said.
