Former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has announced plans to formally declare his ambition to contest the 2027 governorship election in Oyo State on the platform of the All Progressives Congress.
In an invitation released ahead of the event, Adelabu called on party leaders, stakeholders and supporters to attend his official declaration scheduled for Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at the Main Bowl of Liberty Stadium, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
The former minister said the event would signal the start of a fresh political movement aimed at restoring what he described as progressive governance in the state under the APC.
Adelabu, who contested the governorship election on the APC platform in 2019, said he was returning to the race with broader experience, stronger resolve and renewed commitment to serving the people of Oyo State.
He maintained that the APC stands a strong chance of reclaiming power in the state in 2027 through unity, dedication and the support of party members and residents.
According to him, his governorship ambition is driven by a desire to build a more prosperous Oyo State anchored on competence, experience, passion and proven leadership capacity.
The declaration ceremony is expected to draw prominent APC leaders, political allies, traditional rulers, youth groups and supporters from different parts of the state and beyond.
