Social media personality VeryDarkMan (VDM) has alleged that unnamed individuals approached him to help suppress allegations he made against Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Moshood Jimoh.
According to him, he was urged to support efforts to manage public perception of the controversy.
“They said the evidence I posted would make Nigerians lose confidence in the Nigeria Police Force, so they want me to support whatever damage control they plan to put out.”
VDM claimed the reason given was that the evidence he shared could damage public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force if left unchallenged.
However, he insisted he had no intention of participating in any attempt to shield the senior police officer.
“Well, my answer is no. I will not join in whitewashing AIG Moshood Jimoh, that’s why they are yet to issue press.”
The activist maintained that he rejected the alleged request, stressing that he would not help “whitewash” anyone regardless of their position.
He further called on the Inspector-General of Police to ensure the allegations are independently investigated.
“IG Olatunji Rilwan Disu must set up an independent investigative panel to review all the evidence I have against him.”
