Shock in Kogi as Rev. Fr. Samuel Oyetoro Is Allegedly M+rdered Along Ajaokuta Road

A Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Samuel Opeyemi Oyetoro, was reportedly st@bbed to de@th by unidentified assailants in Ajaokuta, Kogi State, in an incident that has left the Catholic community in mourning.

According to reports, the cleric was att@cked multiple times along the Ajaokuta Road on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, before his body was allegedly dumped by the roadside. The motive behind the k+lling remains unclear, while security authorities are yet to issue a detailed official statement on the incident.

Rev. Fr. Oyetoro, who was born in Egbe, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State, was a native of Ayetoro in Ijumu Local Government Area. Until his de@th, he served as the priest of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Egbe.

The Catholic Diocese of Lokoja confirmed his passing in an official obituary dated July 29, 2026, describing his de@th as a painful loss.
