Legal commentator raises questions over ₦400m building gift to Peller

A legal commentator has raised questions about the documents presented to content creator Peller by businessman Mr Ochacho in connection with a building said to be worth ₦400 million.

Recall that the TikToker recently received documents of the house the businessman had gifted him following his wedding with Jarvis.

In a lengthy social media post, the commentator drew attention to a document identified as a Power of Attorney, arguing that the document, on its own, does not amount to a transfer of legal ownership of the property.

He explained that, in his view, a Power of Attorney generally authorises one person to act on behalf of another in relation to a property, rather than automatically transferring title to the property.

The commentator further urged members of the public not to regard the arrangement involving Peller and Mr Ochacho as a standard template for property transfers in Nigeria, stressing the importance of obtaining proper legal advice before purchasing or receiving land or buildings.

He also suggested that the arrangement may have been partly designed as social media content, while praising what he described as the property owner’s lawyer’s approach to protecting the client’s interests.

“I need you to pay Attention to this.
Take a look at the photo below And you will see where Mr Ochacho gave Peller the Documents to the Building of 400M he pr0mised Peller.

Now, zoom the photo and see the name of the Document, you will see POWER OF ATTORNEY

That Power of Attorney is the reason for our discussion today.

You see that Power of Attorney Peller is holding ehn.
Under Nigerian law, Peller did not get legal ownership of any building as promised by Mr Ochacho.

Power of Attorney is just a document that gives authority to Peller to act on behalf of Mr Ochacho concerning the said Building or Property and Mr Ochacho can withdraw such power at any time he wish without Peller’s consent or Approval.
And if Mr Ochacho kpai today, the document becomes invalid immediately (revoked)

That document doesn’t transfer ownership of Land under Nigeria law.

I am creating this awareness so you don’t see this their template as a bechmark for what is legal for Property transfer in Nigeria.

Peller and Mr Ochacho are probably creating content with the whole thing before somebody will say what is Atanda saying.
Rich man dey talk
Atanda sef dey talk

No worry
Your eyes go soon clear, you go know say Rich men no dey joke with their lawyers advice before them do anything and you see the good j0b Mr Ochacho Lawyer did here to retain the property and not get carried away by social media emotions to give out his property just like that.
